Inanda Dam & Resort is 42 km from Durban and 24 km from its surrounding Hillcrest suburbs. It is a destination where the public can visit for the day or stay overnight camping or make use of one of the four luxury tented accommodation.
There are 40 electric campsites and enough room for a further 200 campers with non-electric sites. All facilities are self-catering.
Security officers patrol the area during the night and field staff during the day.
Inanda Dam & Resort is the second overnight stop for the well-known Duzi canoe marathon normally held mid-February. It has been a venue for various musical events. The Inanda Dam Bass Classic fishing competition has been running since 1998 when they first started.
The dam provides a range of water sport activities on the 1469 hectares of water surface ranging from boating, canoeing, jet skiing, yachting and fishing. There are four slipways from which craft owners could launch their craft onto the dam.
Braai & jungle gym facilities are found throughout the Resort, catering for the day visitor as well as the person staying overnight. Clean toilets & ablutions are supplied and serviced. There are 24 secure enclosed boat lockers that are hired out to customers who may store their boat, trailer or caravan. There is also a secure fenced off area where 30 customers may store their boat, trailer or caravan.
The Resort has a nature trail that meanders through 25 ha’s of natural bushveld, consisting of woodlands & grasslands. Zebra & grey duiker can be seen as well as many species of bird life. Listen to the sound of the Fish Eagle early in the morning or late in the evening. Take a scenic drive up to the top of Nanda hill where you can get a kaleidoscope view of the whole dam or if you feel the need to shop, visit Link hills shopping mall just 14 km South of the Resort.
There are 40 individually demarcated campsites which have electric plug points. There are enough open campsites without electricity to accommodate at least 200 more campers. The campsite has four ablutions.
A kitchen lapa is situated by campsite 11 with its own electric geyser. Campers wash their dishes in this facility. There is a further ablution opposite campsite 32. A ladies & gents toilet facility is found in the non-electric camp site.
There are four luxury tented sites. Each has their own kitchen and bathroom consisting of a shower, toilet & basin. There are four single beds in each tent with en-suite bathroom. The kitchen is outside. On the patio of the main room is an open plan area that overlooks the dam and can be closed off if the weather is unfavorable. Camp attendants on a daily basis service these four tents.
There are four slipways for craft owners to launch their crafts. Three of these are found in the day visitor area and one in the campsite area.
The Resort is ideal for nature & outdoor lovers and fishermen.
